Outcome: Successful kidney transplant; both donor and recipient thrived post-op
In 2004, at age 36, Stuart Zimmer was dialysis-dependent with severe complications including dangerously elevated blood pressure (280/180) and debilitating migraines. After his wife circulated an appeal, the story reached Save One Person. Lauren distributed it to media contacts, and Alice Stockton Rossini at 1010 WINS ran his story, generating hundreds of donor inquiries. Regina Grebb from the Bronx became the needle in the haystack and donated her kidney. Both Zimmer and Regina flourished post-transplant.
